A member of the Coalition to Preserve Community on a walking tour with Columbia students explains what a slurry wall is. Columbia is building a bio-tech lab on 125th Street with an 80-foot deep basement, thus necessitating a strong slurry wall to keep groundwater and riverwater out. The lab is being built on an earthquake faultline. Columbia’s own professors have stated their opposition to the safety hazards of this lab and it’s slurry wall.
